Nicki did my hair, I had heavy foil highlights done, she was super fast, paid great attention to detail, held bleach long enough to bring it up to the fullest lightness, but didn’t burn my hair because she put botanical into the bleach. Suggested that I would get inch and a half off so my hair would be healthier, It just felt like she really cared.Thank you so much!

Mrs Artesia, I am not sure if I am spelling her name correctly. Is one of the instructions here at the school. She is awesome. She helped the student who was doing my color. She went back and made sure there was enough enlighter on my hair. Also, she made sure she got the product all the way thru my hair. She had to go back and help the student correctly apply the product. There were black blotches. She went back in and corrected the process. We got beautiful highlights. This was a first experience for me. Getting highlights done on my hair was a big step. I was concerned for the health of my hair. My hair didnt get damaged. It looks good with no breakage after 3 weeks. I love it, thanks, Kaitlyn.

My stylist Lupe Sonnenfelt did an extraordinary job on my hair, she did complete highlights and root color. She was very professional sensitive to my wishes and did exactly as I told her I wanted, by far she did a fabulous job. I’m so happy I found her. Great 1st experience at Aveda today! Had a pedi with Naundy! It was so relaxing & she did a great job on my rough, neglected tootsies! I will be returning for a facial with her!!Great 2nd time to Aveda today! Alina did color & haircut/style. She is a Jr stylist, moving up to Sr stylist soon. She did a Fabulous job with my color (which was a challenge-I had 4 diff colors from doing my own grey cover at home) She was very confident & listened to my ideas & also made a great suggestion based on her knowledge!I love the cut, she did nice layers that give me movement & a super cute style that I can do at home! Instructors come by to review the students at each step of the process. Because of that the appts are a bit longer than at a salon….But to me, it’s so worth the extra time, between the $savings, and also supporting students in the learning process is a win win for All!! I recommend Aveda Institute and will be a return client!

I really appreciate their efforts because my hair looks AMAZING! They took my split ends off and gave me bangs and they honestly look salon professional, will definitely be going there again. Had a lovely hour long facial from a current student, Erin Hamilton. For someone like me who has never had this service before she was very kind and welcoming, and was willing to explain each step of the process to me throughout. It was a very enjoyable experience, she has an extremely gentle touch! My skin feels & looks wonderful after, will certainly be returning next month for another soothing facial.I also had a half leg wax which was admittedly less relaxing, but it did make them incredibly smooth! Thank you!

I had a fantastic facial with Skylar at Aveda. She thoroughly examined my skin was knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure to customize everything to my skins needs. Her technique was both relaxing and precise, and I left with glowing skin! I even went to Sephora afterwards and people were asking me how I got my skin to glow like that. I gave them Skylars name!What really stood out was her personalized advice on my skincare routine, which showed she truly cares about her clients. She heard my skin concerns and answered my questions. Skylar was very client-centric, putting my needs first. I’ll definitely be booking with her again—highly recommend!

As soon as you walk in you are hit by a wonderful smell and a charming little store. When you get set up all attention is on you. The stylist I had, paid attention the whole time and was very fun to talk to. Passing stylists hyped me up. I had a first-time hair dye and it ended up better than I ever could have imagined. The whole visit was so welcoming and I am definitely going back. If it is your first time you can get $10 off. If the price is something you have to consider then trust me it is insanely cheap.

What a hidden gem! Had no idea the school was in Jacksonville, I will absolutely be back! Everyone was wonderful from the appointment made over the phone to my care at the salon. Nicole Dawson was my stylist, she was on point and amazing. Matched my hair color perfectly and probably one of the best cuts I’ve ever had and you just can’t beat the prices. I’ll never pay 200+ for my hair again.😊😊

I had my hair done by Andie, and let me tell you…….. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. She is in intro but it’s as if she’s been doing hair forever. She was incredibly sweet and fun to talk to which made the whole process very enjoyable. On top of her AMAZING people skills she sent me on my way with exactly to color I was looking for. Over years of different stylists and lighting I was never able to get my desired color…. She did it first try. Absolutely amazing experience 5 stars. RUN DONT WALK!!!!

I have been going to Aveda Institutes for years. After moving back to the Jax area I was paying $200 to get my hair colored. I paid $64 last night and the girl did a wonderful job. She took her time and listened to what I was asking for. The staff was amazing at this location and I’ll be back.

Today I had my hair cut by Sarah and a facial and eyebrow waxing by Maddie. Both did a wonderful job. Very personalble and sweet. Gave me a nice relaxing experience. I left feeling pretty and feeling myself.. 😆 However, please fix the shampoo bowls and the light on the 1st facial room. They just made it difficult for the ladies to do their job efficiently. Maddie had to hold the light while doing my brows...thats just got to be frustrating. Both ladies handled the hiccups with professionalism and grace.

I recently got my hair cut and styled here and absolutely loved my experience. I had decided to cut my hair much shorter and was a little nervous about how it would look. My stylist was Liah and she took such good care of me and I could tell that she really took her time to make sure my haircut was perfect and that I would love it. I felt so at ease and was able to be relaxed and enjoy my time there. To say I am thrilled with the results is an understatement. I experienced my first facial in 20 years at Aveda with a young student in training named Chloe. I was greeted by the Aveda staff at arrival and then shortly after by Chloe. I was offered water or Aveda’s signature tea. I chose the tea, it was good. My facial performed by Chloe was top notch and she did a very good job explaining each step in the process, made sure I was comfortable at all times and was very professional. I would highly recommend A facial by Chloe and all the other services Aveda has to provide to help support all the students that are there on their journey.

I always have the best experience whenever I go as far as the services are concerned. The students do a great job and I’m sure it’s a reflection of their training and teachers. BUT! The service staff at the front desk are always very rude and disorganized though, every single time I go there is some issue (sometimes minor, sometimes major) and they are never apologetic. I’m not sure if they are hired separately or are part of the student core but they definitely do not reflect the experience the Aveda brand is marketing. Disheveled and confused most times with full of negative retort and sarcasm and as I said previously, non apologetic. Perhaps because it’s a school they think they don’t have to treat patrons with any real customer service since we are there “at our own risk” but it’s not a free service and it’s run as a “salon”. It’s probably the one thing that keeps me from highly recommending them online or verbally.

I recently visited the Aveda Institute for a facial and back facial. My student Esthetician was Jolei. She was very well spoken and has a very kind demeanor, but even more so she was knowledgeable about the services and products that I was receiving. Jolei gave me a thorough skin analysis and was able to recommend products for me after my services at home. She also kept me informed about the process step by step (she asked ahead of time if I would like silence or to know what she was doing) which I appreciated.Overall both services were very enjoyable and I left feeling relaxed and glowing. 10/10 would recommend these services for anyone and will be back to see Jolei again!

I went in for a haircut about a few years ago then periodically went in for more services like a facial, pedicure, and gloss hair treatment. I enjoyed all sevices except for my pedicure because of the fabric seating, not a vast selection in nail polish and it took about two and a half hours for a pedicure. I recently got my hair colored by a new master student, Jules who is absolutely amazing! I just wish the prices had not increased like they have. I miss the old pricing but its lower than going anywhere else and Aveda Institute uses Aveda products which are superior to any other hair salon that does not use these products.

I only come here for their Friday/Saturday free wash/blow dry to get my hair nicely prepped before getting my hair braided. I have kinkier 4C hair texture and its very obvious most of students who have done my hair have never worked with someone like me. However, the students/staff were always professional, polite, and tried their best and would do a decent job. Lately Ive also noticed more diversity in their students as well as their instructors so Im excited about that. Ive been here like 10 times at this point. Please remember this is a school, so it is reflected in the price. Please manage expectations.

I just got one of the best services in quite a while. My hair needed some TLC and I was so confused about where to go because I needed the complete care. I decided to go here. I called and explained and the individual who answered was so accommodating and understanding. Once I got there in no time I was in a chair. A consultation was done then the process began. Jule and the overseeing teacher were just great. I got a relaxer and bob cut which I absolutely love ❤️. Thanks, Jule and the Aveda team for making it a superb experience.

I have been coming to Aveda for almost 10 years.I always receive great service. This school is really wonderful at teaching the students what they need to work on hair.I have really thick and long hair. It takes over 6 hours to color my hair. They always do such a wonderful job. And its so very reasonable. You can imagine how many bowls they must need to dye my hair. They have a flat fee plus a nominal charge per bowl. I have never paid more than $100 to get my hair shampooed, cut, thinned, dyed, and styled. Im sure that at a salon I would pay at least $300 for this serviceAll the students that have done my hair in the past have been wonderful. If they are not sure if something or whatever instead of being like oh whatever Ill just do this or try this... They will stop and go find an instructor and make sure they are proceeding in the best way possible. Thats so very important.Aveda is also concerned about the environment. They make their own products with this in mind. They are very active in making the Earth a better place. This is very impressive.Ive only just found out that on Fridays and Saturdays that you can get a free shampoo and style if you schedule with a foundation student. They do not cut hair but they will shampoo and style. The girl I got last week was so marvelous. Even though she is just starting out in the school you can tell she will go far. She gave me a scalp massage, shampooed my hair, and styled it. She did such a great job 💕 I really enjoyed the scalp massage. And as they style your hair they are putting product in it to prevent it from damaging your hair. Its so very worth it.If youre having doubts because its a school, come get the free shampoo and style and see what a wonderful place this isThank you Aveda for everything you do. 😘 💕

One of the best part was the mini massage was very gentle with light pressure. I suffer from leg and foot pain because im on my feet all day, so I was really relaxed after the service. I had a really wonderful experience getting a facial and haircut at the Aveda Institute. The woman who did my facial ensured I has a relaxing service. Because it is a training school I could hear other students working with an instructor but for me it wasnt distracting. My only critique is i would have like for her to have gone over the products or condition of my skin with me when she gave me this list of products.For my hair that was also a fine experience. Im not picky about my hair and my only requirements really were that she give me bangs and cut enough length for me to donate. Those were both easily met. After consulting with the instructor she got to work. The cut itself was pretty simple but not bad. Ive found that at institutes when I dont have a specific look in mind they either go super simple or use it as the opportunity to get a little crazy with it (which I love).Overall, its a great no-frills experience for the price and Id go back for future services.

I had an extremely good experience at this place today. I got a hair cut by Lauren, who did excellent and got her trainers involved and they talked through what to do with the ends of my hair. Then, my cars scrape plate came off in the parking lot and I had to lay down under my car and unscrew the little bolts to get the plate off all the way. I was out there forever, sweating in the heat, and one of the girls from the salon came out to bring me water. I don’t even think she knew I was in the salon earlier because it was a girl I don’t remember meeting. I can’t believe she did that! I can’t believe they were that kind and caring. They will definitely have my recommendation and I will come back again.

I had a really awesome experience with Aveda. I went in for a brow wax and haircut. My hair texture is very thick, wavy, and frizzy. It usually takes at least an hour for just for the cut, and some salons I have been to in the past rush my haircut so they can move into the next. The stylist here took her time to give me a quality haircut that was exactly what I had envisioned. Based on what I saw I am really excited to have them color my hair for my next appointment. Not to mention, the quality of the products they use are amazing and worked wonders for my hair. I highly recommend. Everyone was so professional and nice. In my opinion, the services offered here are better than some at top salons.

I always leave happy with my haircut, and pleased with the atmosphere and wonderfully kind way Im treated here. There are instructors checking the students work, so cuts are well-done and finished. You do have to get used to having a new stylist every appointment, because they graduate!! Last time I was in with my 9 year old daughter. I booked her a manicure for during my haircut, and her student offered us a free shampoo and style for her as well. It was a very fun experience for her. She is so excited to come back for her haircut soon.

I’ve been going to Aveda for over 3 years for color retouch and haircuts. Never had any serious problems. Always treated professionally and the students always ask what I need and confirm with the educator that they fully understand the services I am expecting. I recently added getting monthly facials. Facials are great and very relaxing. Sometimes the students work a little slower than what you may want, but I always plan my appointments accordingly just in case this happens so I have the time to be patient and and not rush them.

I went in for a cut and color. I wanted to do something fun and different and being a breast cancer survivor I chose pink. Skylar C. was my stylist. She was pleasant and polite. We discussed what I wanted and she was able to do the pink just as I saw in my mind. She took off about three and a half inches and soft layers framing my face and some in the back to make it less heavy. I could not be more happy with the cut and color!! She has a gentle touch and really listens to what the client wants! I will be going back again!!

This Aveda Institute locations students are wonderful but their management and safety practices leave much to be desired. The salon overbooked themselves during my visit with my mom, leaving to significant waiting times and cancellations of some of our services. This also made social distancing impossible (chairs ~4ft apart), but thankfully we were vaccinated and everyone was wearing masks. Despite all these issues, I am still leaving a 4-star review as the student stylists who worked on me (Selina, Luisa, and Nicole) were phenomenal and helped make up for the management hiccups. These 3 students were attentive, meticulous, patient, and friendly -- even despite clearly being overbooked. If we ever go back to this location, it will be because of them!

New to Jacksonville, so Google reviews led me to choose an upscale Aveda salon. They completely loused up my hair for major $$$$!Enter the Aveda institute…which I somehow stumbled on upon a search. I called and explained my dilemma to Emma who attentively listened and assigned me to a student who could help. I honestly did not know what to expect when I arrived.Aveda institute was very clean and everyone there was taking all safety precautions necessary due to Covid.My student stylist was Destiny B. I brought in photos of hair before botched hair job and she and her instructor Antonio devised a plan for my colors.Destiny meticulously highlighted my hair with a very pleasant demeanor while doing so. The instructor does come to check periodically throughout. Antonio is a great hands on instructor.She did an amazing job! The colors were beautiful. I was hoping they be a bit lighter, but after a few days in, I am loving this shade!! I have booked another appointment in 4 weeks with Destiny.Sometimes the adage “you get what you pay for” doesnt always ring true. I paid one quarter of the price for highlights/lowlights here. The quality of service exceeded my expectations and by far surpasses the pricey place!The students and staff are professional in every way and I would highly recommend Aveda institute.

I went to the Jacksonville Aveda Institute while in town for medical treatment. An appointment was not available for the day I wanted but the gal doing the scheduling was on the bal and called me immediately when a cancellation occurred. I was scheduled with Nicole, who is due the graduate in February (3 mos away). She was absolutely terrific, took her time with the consult, explained how the process worked, and then brought her instructor who did the same. Never did I feel like I was not in the hands of a pro. The instructors stopped by to give their opinion when she asked for it but never seemed to lean on her or cramp her style at all. Nicole’s talent far surpassed her experience level in every way e Celt the time taken (4 hrs), but know that you have to expect that when you go to a beauty school and have a student practice their new skills on you. I have gone to Aveda salons (not the school) for many years and Nicole was as good as any of the fully experienced veternal stylists I have seen, and I have never been disappointed. The huge bonus of going to the Aveda Institute is that you get SO I have more for your money! I had highlights, lowlights, a special super-conditioning treatment, cut and blow dry for what I’d normally pay at a salon for only highlights! My hair feels and looks so soft and healthy after today and I am thrilled with the results!

Ive been going to an Aveda institute in Michigan for my platinum hair and touch ups for over a year and always had a positive experience, but recently moved down to Florida. It had been 4 months since I had the time to attend to my hair and Sarah and her educator knew exactly how to approach this challenge and did an AMAZING job matching my hair to the picture I had, detoxing the ends to a crisp clean white, toning it evenly and flawlessly, and leaving it with a healthy glow. I have been going to the Jacksonville, FL, school location for many years. I have short, thick hair, which is not too hard to deal with. I have had many good us and a few average ones but never a bad cut. Yes, you do have to allow 1 to 1.5 hours per visit for a basic hair cut (more if you are getting color), but I feel that for the price, it is worth the time. Most of the educators are good and will make adjustments to the work the student did; although I did have one cut (slightly) my ear. I will return here.

Great cut and experience with my stylist.I had to reschedule my hair appointment and the original date had a discount from the customer appreciation event. The discount was not applied to my new appointment date when I asked about this I was told that I had to keep the original date or lose the discount. I have been using Aveda’s services for years and never had an issue with the discount and appt date changes. Eventually the receptionist gave me the discount after some discussion and making me feel at unease.Also, I was told that Aveda is going to cashless …. After years of only accepting cash for tips, so it was easier to pay with cash, it would have been helpful if this change was conveyed to customers in the email and text appointment confirmations.

I really liked it. I have natural African American hair and it is DIFFICULT to find anyone who has any idea what they are doing. All I wanted was a trim and they did a excellent job of debriefing me on my hair type, products they have for me, and what I/they wanted to leave with. It is unquestionably a teaching facility so expect it to take 1hr for a haircut. But I felt I was helping teach, espeically with a unique hair type. Took forever though. Maranda and Blair were phenomenal!!! They listened to understand my concerns and my wants - I felt they actually heard me! Maranda took the time to cut and style my hair as it should have been; she made sure I was happy with the cut as we progressed through the entire process. This was refreshing because by doing so she gave me the chance to make changes as we went along. Blair was top notch in guiding Maranda and my cut and making suggestions and providing visuals so I could fully understand the potential of my cut. Both Maranda and Blair were quick to ease my concerns and explain what should happen with a cut (especially when texturing is involved). To say Im happy with my cut and my experience is putting it mildly. Im absolutely ecstatic and feel more myself than I have felt in a long time. Disappointed that an educational studio wouldn’t share this with their own students . This definitely affected the quality and timing of things .Facial was great Chanel did a great job. She apologized for the noisy students right outside my facial room. They were just hanging out and bring loud like it was a break room . I was a student at this institute and graduated in May of 2015. Now that Ive been out of school for a year, I wanted to write a review to help potential students make an informed decision. The school itself is nice. The educator turn over rate is pretty high, so some of the classes while I was there saw more than one educator per phase. That was a slight annoyance, but the educators that are there are very good. The days can be long and at times it feels overwhelming, but I believe that is anywhere you choose to go. The reason I absolutely recommend this school is because I am now a stylist in a very high end salon. I make more money than Ive ever made in my life. I walked out of the school doors and walked in to the salon 100 percent prepared for the real world. You can go to any school and learn the bare basics, but Aveda will truly prepare you for the real world. You get tons of practice in the masters phase and you will get pushed to your limits, but that is all necessary to prepare you for what is to come in the real world. Ive never once felt uncomfortable doing something in the salon because I was so well prepared. I didnt always like the school while I was there, but Ive come to appreciate everything that I learned and all of the pushing that happened. Ive grown so much since I started this journey and the school was definitely the foundation that laid out the ground work for all of the success Im experiencing now. I should add, when I walked in to Aveda the first day of school, I knew NOTHING about hair. I had never even touched a blow dryer. I had a great experience at Aveda today. My first visit- didn’t know this institute existed but my coworker highly recommended the $18 haircuts. I’ve been to massage schools so why haven’t I thought to try a hair institute? I’ve lived in Jax 3 years and i’ve tried a handful of hair salons but haven’t loved any of them. Well thankfully today I met Emily L! Emily L gave my sad locks a much needed makeover and my hair looks so beautiful & healthy now. Emily has an adorable fun personality - I had a great time chatting with her. Loved the scalp massage and the way she styled my hair. The cut was exactly what I asked for and is very flattering. I should have taken a selfie in the salon cuz it was downpouring when I left- next time I guess.This institute has extended hours on Thurs & Fridays which is great, and $18 for a wash, cut & style can’t be beat. The stylists seem to be nice & chummy with each other and have a good time together as well which just creates an enjoyable atmosphere as a customer.Fyi bring cash for tips- no tips via credit cards.

I have been a client since 07/13. The Institute is very structured. I thoroughly enjoy the experience. Very fortunate to have had excellent students. The Educators are on hand to advise and check their work. Products are second to none. I look forward to going for color/cut. Very friendly staff. Eager to help and please. Recommend highly. I am always satisfied with the excellent quality of care I receive at the Aveda Institutes. Jacksonville was right on point! From start to finish a great experience, great value and a great hair do. I am glad to be near this facility because I plan to visit regularly. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Today I was transformed by Bethany from a frizzy haired older woman into a beautiful confident woman !! She was a really sweet, professional student, paying attention to everything I asked for !! I wish she was getting a job closer to us here in St. John County!! I even got a hand and scalp massage for free !! Definitely worth every 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Aveda Institute is a great way to help students and receive outstanding services. You do need to realize that you wont be with the same stylist each time, but they all receive impeccable training and the educators are always on the floor observing. They just started performing facials and I have been so pleased with each service I have received.

Was in on 2/28 and Paige was my stylist. She was amazing! She listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for. My curls turned out perfect and just the way I wanted them. I could not be happier with the out come. I will definitely be back to see Paige again. Thank you Paige!!

Love my haircut! They treat you to a true spa experience. The place is clean and smells fantastic. The instructors hold the students to high standards and I got a better haircut here, then I have had in years!

I love Aveda....I have been going there for at least 4 years. Used to go to a competitor (dont want to name them). The students are great at Aveda and so were the ones at the competitor but the products wore off too quick at the other place and I had to have my hair done more frequently. Aveda products are much better. I love the extra touches, like the hand massages and the tea and water they always offer. I always go in looking like an old drowned rat and come out looking like a model....even at 57 years old. I will never go anywhere else.
